No hope for cricket

Last night, every news channel reported this

Spot-fixing scandal wouldn’t have happened under my watch: Pawar

How ridiculous can we get? Here’s a little glimpse of the man making these ‘holier than thou’ statements

Sharad Pawar’s voluntary disclosure shows Pawar’s stakes in over twenty different companies – including ones involved in mining and agro-industries, including some owned by his family (wife, daughter and son-in-law) – that may have a bearing on his role as Minister for Agriculture in the Union Cabinet. Also, his involvement with Indian Premier League as BCCI honcho and stakes in the Pune and Bangalore teams is already well known. Pawar was also one of those stridently opposing the proposal to bring BCCI under RTI – consistently and successfully so.

BCCI might be seeing a public low right now – but people like Pawar had everything to do with deepening the rot in the system.
